Silly Pumpkin Pincushions For You To Make and Sell

Hi, Primmies, I'm back again with another project. There are so many ideas out there that you'd go crazy busy trying to make them all. I know I'm getting a little squirrelly being in the house and looking for things to do and post on my blog. It's fun, though, and Halloween and Autumn seem to be my favorite time of the year for decorating. It's Ashley's favorite time of the year, too, which makes it special for me.  
These Pumpkin Pincushions are great, who doesn't love pumpkins, and Primmies love to make pincushions.

• Freezer paper
• Felt: 6x10-inch rectangle of moss green, two 7x8-inch rectangles of dark orange, 6x10-inch rectangle of orange, and scraps of red, ivory, and gold
• #8 pearl cotton: white, black, and green
• Beans or rice to weight bottom (optional)
• Polyester fiberfill
• Embellishments for stems: cloth tape measure, golf tee, and artificial flowers
• Crafts glue
• Card stock
• Buttons in various sizes for eyes
• Embellishments for noses, such as a checker, bingo marker, or die

Cut the felt

Position the freezer paper, shiny side down, over the patterns. Trace the patterns the number of times indicated. Cut out the shapes on the traced lines. Using an iron, press a freezer-paper shape, shiny side down, onto the front of the respective fabric; let cool. Cut out the shape along the pattern edges. Peel off the freezer paper.

Applique the face features

Stitching is done with a single strand of #8 pearl cotton.Backstitch a line in the center of each mouth. Work straight stitches at intervals along the mouth lines. Backstitch a circle on the dark orange pumpkin's eye patch.

For the artificial-flower stem, tie a small bunch of flowers and leaves with a length of pearl cotton. Glue each stem in place.For the tape-measure stem, cut two 2-1/2-inch lengths from the tape measure. Glue a 1/4x2-1/2-inch strip of card stock between the two lengths

With right sides together and using a 1/4-inch seam allowance, sewthe fronts to the backs, leaving an opening at the top of eachpumpkin for turning; turn right side out. Stuff with fiberfill. Hand-sew the openings closed, leaving 1/2-inch openings to insert the stems.

Sew buttons in place for eyes. Glue the noses in place. You're done!

learn some fast tips for making penny rugs. I like Penny Lane Primitives patterns on Joggles because they show you underneath the pattern a complete list of all materials
needed to make the items so you can know what you need and not wait until you get the pattern. You can check your "stash" before you buy things that you don't need.

I just watched the VIDEO for a Penny Pocket. The pattern from PENNY LANE PRIMITIVES makes the Penny Rug and Penny Pocket and it's
only $8.50. They also have a KIT that includes the pattern, the wool felt to make both the rug
and the pocket, the DMC floss, a chenille needle and freezer paper for tracing and transfer.
If you watch the video, they show you some great tips that make the tracing, cutting and
construction of these little pieces go much easier and faster.
I hope that this helps you learn a little something that you didn't know about tracing and cutting little pieces for penny's or any applique projects.
